After a new business acquisition A-Katsastus is the leading vehicle inspection operator in Estonia
A-Katsastus has acquired the biggest inspection station in Estonia, OÜ Pelgulinna Autotehniline Katsekoda, which is located in the Estonian capital Tallinn. The new business merger is part of the company’s international expansion strategy and was preceded by another international acquisition in Belgium only one month earlier. Following the merger, A-Katsastus Group is the largest vehicle inspection company also in Estonia.
The Estonian inspection market is divided between 80 private vehicle inspection companies, which carry out approximately 470 000 annual inspections. As a result of the acquisition, 7 % of those are performed at the A-Katsastus Group stations.
A-Katsastus entered the Estonian inspection market in June by acquiring two inspection stations, located in Maardu and Rakvere towns. A-Ülevaatus OÜ, the Estonian subsidiary of the company has carried out 17 000 inspections per year. Together with the newly acquired OÜ Pelgulinna Autotehniline Katsekoda, A-Katsastus Group will carry over 30 000 inspections at three stations including both light and heavy vehicle inspections.
The Baltic States are one of the key areas for A-Katsastus Group regarding future growth. The company started operations in Latvia in 1997 and has currently 9 inspections stations there. Expansion strategy plan includes further transactions in Estonia but also in other Baltic States. The main target is to be the leading vehicle inspection operator in the area in a few years time. A-Katsastus is the market leader in Finland, Belgium and Estonia and the second biggest vehicle inspection company in Denmark and Latvia. Additionally, the company has vehicle inspection operations in Poland and Russia, which are potential areas also for future growth.
Juha Tukiainen, CEO of A-Katsastus is pleased with the recent business merger ,”OÜ Pelgulinna Autotehniline Katsekoda is the biggest operator in Estonia and it is located in the strategically important city area in Tallinn. Moreover, it has excellent reputation in Estonia and the operations are of high quality. Our target is enlarging our operations in the Baltic area and this is a natural step forward. It is our third international business acquisition this year and supports our strategy. We are already one of the leading European operators and more than half of the periodical inspections are carried outside of Finland.”
